Reflection on Broader Crossing Activity

金协 Xie Jin

After the discussions with Ryan and Sang, I revised my essay. Firstly, I gave out a clear definition of the fate and freedom, which I would talk about in my essay, in the first paragraph. And I used more evidents and examples for the film to support my idea and made more reasoning and analyses. I agree with Ryan and Sang that I should put specific definition and use more analyses and evidents in my essay to furthur it. I see that actually my style of writing is not that logical and tend to just follow my stream of consciousness. I think that I should pay attention to the logic and structure of my essay in the future.

Before this activity, I expected that I would receive some helpful and insightful suggestions from the foreign students. Also, I really hoped to have deep discussions about the inner spirit conveyed by these two films, the view of cultural aspect and so on. I think that all these expectations have been achieved till noow. And I found that actually we have many common views although we come from different country. For example, I extremely agree with Ryan's idea that we should fight against the prejudice because everyone is equal no matter what kind of person he or she is.(except antisocialist) Also, I like Sang's insightful perspective of fate and freedom. This activity is a really good experience for me. I would like to appericiate Ryan and Sank for their spending time and energy giving me suggestions and discussing with me.

A suggestion I want to give to the Broader Crossing Activity is more time could be given to us for further discussions. Actually, these days I am busy with the midterm exams and several competetions. I believe that if we have more time to make discussions, we would have more results.

Overall, I really benefit a lot from the Broader Crossing Activity. I also hope that I could have such a kind of chance to interact with foreign students on writing in the future.

Thanks to everyone again!
